Always Be Closing (ABC)

A Hollywood term used by people who don’t understand sales.

The phrase “Always Be Closing”, or ABC for short, is a phrased used almost exclusively by people outside of the sales industry, or with little to no experience in sales.

Always Be Closing was popularized by the movie Glengarry Glen Ross, which, while entertaining, set salespeople back about 10 years by projecting sales reps as overly-aggressive and unethical monsters, furthering the stigma against sales reps into the minds of viewers.

In sales today, targeting, prospecting and qualifying fit are most important to your success. If you do all this correctly, the close is done for you. Constantly adding buying pressure to a sales situation never helps.
