Sales Development Rep (SDR)
Sales rep responsible for engaging new leads.
Sometimes known as appointment setters, business development reps (BDRs) or sales development reps (SDRs), these are the hunters of your sales force. Prospecting is their primary responsibility: reach out to leads, pique their interest, and get them to agree to a meeting, demo, or similar.
Once this prospecting goal is reached, SDRs typically handoff to a rep who takes over the remainder of the sales process (such as an Account Executive).
Prospecting is the most important activity for companies needing to generate new sales, making the SDR role critical for success.
