Team structures
Sales roles and how reps work together as a team
The three most common sales team structures are the Assembly Line, the Island, and the Pod:
— The Assembly Line - teams are made up of reps who all specialize in the same stage in the sales cycle (e.g. prospecting). As accounts progress through the sales process, they pass the baton to the next team of specialized reps.
— The Island - each rep is responsible for their own accounts across all stages of the sales process. Sales reps don’t work together much but share managers, operations reps, etc.
— The Pod - teams are made up of reps who each specialize in specific stages of the sales process, who work as a team to move accounts through all stages.
